Resources: provides a list of core values and beliefs, part of a
support system from which families can gain success. In setting a framework for our mission of making the world a
better place one student at a time, these values support the ideals of Harmony
and Intelligence Academy:
• High standards. Set high academic standards for all
schools that drive curriculum,
instruction, and assessment, stating clearly what all students
are expected to achieve.
• Flexibility and equitable resources. Give
schools—including the least successful
schools—the flexibility, resources, and support required to
give all students an
opportunity to achieve success.
• Small, personal schools. Create schools that are small
enough to engage all students, so that even the most disadvantaged students are
connected to and supported by schools.
• Effective leadership. Allow school leaders the autonomy
they need to overcome and
manage the mission, operational, and strategic alliance
challenges they will face in
building the capacity they need to create a high-performing
organization.
• Accountability for results. Hold all schools and districts
accountable for the academic
achievement of all students, including those who have
traditionally had the least
success in school.
• Family empowerment. Promote meaningful family empowerment
and participation
in choosing schools, especially among parents who have
historically been least likely
to participate in school life.
• Community support. Make education a larger community
commitment to healthy
youth and family development.
